Artists such as Deadmau5 and Tom Misch will be able to joins the ranks of Niall Horan and Wiz Kalifa in delivering VR content in front of audiences and in pre-recorded shows.
Anthony Matchett, founder and chief executive officer of MelodyVR, commented: “I’m pleased to enter into this agreement with AWAL and look forward to working with their fresh and exciting roster of independent talent, to create ground-breaking immersive virtual reality experiences for their fans.”
MelodyVR has worked with hundreds of artists, including Post Malone, The Chainsmokers, Niall Horan and Bebe Rexha, to deliver the world’s largest catalogue of VR experiences to music fans.
Last month, MelodyVR launched its first Live in VR event with a headline performance from Liam Payne.
MelodyVR also extended its agreement with Facebook late last year to release a new version of its music platform through an upcoming Oculus device.
As part of the agreement, which will see the release of a new version of the platform with updated features and functionality but new and existing content and a similar look and feel to the version currently available on Oculus Go and Samsung Gear VR, Facebook will provide a financial contribution to MelodyVR to offset production and development costs.
Matchet said of the agreement with Facebook: “As VR technology continues to rapidly develop, we’re excited to add new features and functionality to the MelodyVR platform and for Oculus to release new hardware, which will no-doubt lead to increased user adoption of VR devices. We look forward to working with Oculus throughout 2019 and appreciate their partnership and support to-date.”
