The VR/AR Association (VRARA) has appointed Gabriel René to its global advisory board.
René is executive director of VERSES Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation that is developing open protocols and interoperability standards to power the spatial web.
He is a technologist, entrepreneur, researcher and media producer with a 25-year career spanning the high-technology, telecommunications and media industries.
As a new member of the global advisory board, René will provide VRARA with cross-functional technology insight and counsel on the role VR and AR will play in privacy, security and interoperability. The global advisory board also includes industry veterans such as Cathy Hackl from Magic Leap.
René serves as chair for VRARA’s AR cloud committee and will be keynoting at the VR/AR Global Summit.
Kris Kolo, global executive director of VRARA, said: “As the VRARA continues to grow, we welcome Mr René, and appreciate his leadership in helping move our industry forward, we also look forward to his keynote at our Global Summit in Vancouver, Canada, in November.”
