The Wild has integrated its collaboration platform with Autodesk BIM 360, giving architecture, engineering and construction teams that use the management software the ability to coordinate and collaborate on their models in an immersive virtual or augmented reality (VR/AR) workspace.

Portland, Oregan-based The Wild’s VR/AR collaboration platform is already integrated with several 3D design software applications and boasts support for all major 3D file types.
With The Wild’s BIM 360 integration, the collaboration platform’s target architecture, engineering and construction customers can join one another in an immersive environment, catch errors, provide spatial context for their teammates and stakeholders, and discuss next steps to reach decisions quickly.
Users need only authenticate their BIM 360 account from The Wild’s app to begin collaborating in a virtual workspace from any model. Once authenticated, The Wild remains synced with BIM 360, so the workspaces and models will always be up to date in both applications.
Benefits of the immersive collaboration platform include communicating with multiple teammates or stakeholders in the same space, as well as prototyping by rapidly sketching out ideas in real time. Native tools offer sketching, massing, material sampling, video import, 2D image capture, and speech-to-text annotations, allowing users to capture and express ideas in the moment.
In addition to BIM 360, The Wild integrates with Autodesk Revit, a 3D software application for the building industry.
Collaborators can join from desktop (macOS and Windows), VR (HTC Vive, Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality), and AR (iOS).
Gabe Paez, founder and chief executive officer of The Wild, said of the integration: “We’re thrilled to offer a direct integration with BIM 360, streamlining our connection to project teams and their data through a real-time connection. The Wild has unlocked immersive decision-making in virtual and augmented reality for BIM 360 users without the importing, updating, or fuss. It just works.”
Josh Cheney, industry manager of construction technology at Autodesk, added: “Regardless of how many players are involved across workflows, our customers in the AEC industry need to be able to work efficiently to continue saving time and money. Partnering with solutions such as The Wild helps our customers get everyone on the same page and move across workflows more seamlessly.”
In September, immersive room builder Igloo Vision teamed up with The Wild to bring shared VR and AR experiences to architecture and design teams.
