The story

Three companies from different stages of the immersive content supply chain have teamed up to donate VR headsets and experiences to senior care communities in all 50 US states during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a bid to combat the effects of social isolation among elderly and vulnerable individuals, who remain under strict lockdown measures as US states battle the spread of the coronavirus strain known as Covid-19, MyndVR, a developer of health and wellbeing VR solutions for senior living communities, is partnering with enterprise headset maker Pico Interactive and streaming service Littlstar to donate equipment and content.

Each community selected will receive a free Pico headset along with training and support, and a one-year subscription to the most senior-friendly content available on the MyndVR network.

Pico’s headsets bear face inserts that are designed to be easy to clean and hygienic for mass use and MyndVR is providing instructions and video tutorials showing how to properly sanitise each device between uses, as well as alcohol wipes.

Communities interested in this programme can visit MyndVR’s website for more information and to submit an application. Immersive tech industry members can also contribute to the initiative.

“It’s important that the AR/VR industry steps up in this isolation crisis, and we plan to deliver MyndVR to communities in need in all 50 states.”

Brickler said: “We are so grateful to Pico Interactive and Littlstar for teaming up with us to donate this amazing, life-enriching programme to seniors in care communities across the country.
