The story

Immersive videos will become an even greater marketing tool for travel suppliers when restrictions around the world are lifted, according to John Graham, president of US-based Travel World VR.

Once the Covid-19 pandemic is under control around the world and lockdowns and social distancing measures are eased, Graham expects demand to increase for the immersive VR and 360° videos that Travel World VR produces to promote trips to destinations as far flung as Australia and The Bahamas.

In an interview with VRWorldTech, Graham said: “The reason I believe this is that once travel is possible again, our audience of advisers and meeting planners will not only want but need ‘immersive’ experiences that go above and beyond traditional video and imagery. There is no better form of media to help their clients feel safer and to get them excited to start traveling again.”

Formed two years ago by Steve Perillo, president and owner of Perillo Tours, the largest travel company to Italy in the US, Travel World VR combines deep experience of the travel industry with the capabilities of award-winning production studio Infinite Mixed Reality to build and develop a range of immersive content and platforms, including VR and 360° videos, AR assets, virtual tours and custom apps.

Travel World VR’s immersive content is the “ultimate visualisation tool” for travel suppliers and agents, according to Graham. He continued: “It better helps educate travel advisers selling all categories of travel. And in turn, it also helps speed up the closing process for sellers of travel who are able to share these experiences with their clients.”

Travel World VR is not only a production company, it also serves as a distribution platform for travel suppliers and agents. Its app, which is downloadable via Google Play and the Apple App Store, hosts a library of immersive experiences that are viewable through mobile and desktop devices. The company provides custom headsets so that clients can enjoy content in VR.

Amid the pandemic, the VR company is inviting travel suppliers to host their videos on its app for free, to both encourage wider adoption of immersive experiences and to satisfy locked down travellers’ urge to see the world.

Graham said: “We are currently hosting travel supplier videos for free. This will give potential travelers an uplifting experience while watching at home. And once travel opens up, the suppliers who participate will be a step ahead of their competitors, because they have embraced our new form of media, which is becoming more mainstream as each day passes.”
