The story

Low-vision technology specialist NuEyes is expanding into the enterprise market with a range of new augmented reality smart glasses to serve multiple industries and sectors.

The Pro 3 range will address low vision and medical needs, but will also meet enterprise demand for augmented reality smart glasses that can facilitate training and learning, guided workflows, remote assistance, knowledge transfer, visualisation, and maintenance, repair and operations.

Available to buy from 18 December and shipping in late January, the Pro 3 range includes three versions.

All three tethered smart glasses boast 4K displays, a 51-degree field of view, and weigh just 88g.

One version of the Pro 3 line is tethered to a proprietary controller with dual 6DoF (six degrees of freedom) cameras and a forward-facing 20MP RGB camera.

Its software development includes SLAM (simultaneous localisation and mapping), object, speech, and gesture recognition, and plane detection.

The second version, the Pro 3-C, boasts a 5MP RGB camera with a USB type C plug that connects to any smart device that renders video via a display port.

The Pro 3 C connects and displays images in 2D and 3D on most Android phones and tablets, iPads, MacBooks, and Microsoft’s Surface Book 2.

The third version of the Pro 3 is geared around thermal imaging for enterprise needs.

An ‘exciting pivot’

Mark Greget, chief executive officer and founder of US-based NuEyes, describes the release of the Pro 3 range as an “exciting pivot” for the company.

He says: “Over the past four years, we have been approached by a multitude of medical, government, and enterprise customers asking for a smart glass solution to meet their needs. With our new multiyear exclusive manufacturing relationship with PFC, we now can deliver on those needs with the Pro 3 product line.”

NuEyes has launched a dedicated website for enterprise customers interested in the new Pro 3 range, as well as those looking for a smart glasses solution for low vision and medical needs.

Pro 3 prices range from $1,799 for the Pro 3-C to $1,999 for the controller version.

Enterprises interested in the thermal imaging version should get in touch with NuEyes.
