The story

Architects, designers and engineers using The Wild to collaborate on complex projects in virtual and augmented reality can now ‘present’ to clients and colleagues.

The new Tours feature enables users of the immersive collaboration platform to guide others through their projects remotely.

The Wild is a hub at the centre of the design process and is intended for use as part of ideation, presentation, review and coordination.

Users can join from any device, including desktop (macOS and Windows), virtual reality (HTC Vive, Oculus Quest or Rift, and Windows Mixed Reality), and augmented reality (iOS), to work on designs loaded via a range of integrations.

With the introduction of Tours, architects, designers and engineers can expand their use of The Wild and bring clients and colleagues into the dedicated virtual workspace where their projects are being developed.

The feature enables users to create sequenced, curated experiences that tell focused stories in The Wild’s virtual workspaces, as an alternative to in-person meetings that are difficult in the current environment.

Tours is a considered addition to The Wild, which is developing into a robust alternative tool for the traditional ideation, prototyping and pitching processes.

Gabe Paez, founder and chief executive officer of The Wild, told VRWorldTech in 2019, before the outbreak of Covid-19, that immersive technology was already becoming a part of a designer’s standard toolkit.

The introduction of a feature such as Tours was necessary to take The Wild one step further and “cut through the distractions that surround us and create a focused and compelling expression of our ideas”, says Paez.

He continues: “Tours in The Wild empowers you to craft a story that will focus everyone on your desired framing. You can set the terms of the discussion and create your most powerful pitch.”

“Whether you are trying to sell a new contract, guide a brainstorm, or get sign-off on your design, it is crucial to frame the conversation at every moment so that every participant remains on track and focused.”
