The story

The Wild, developer of the immersive collaboration solution for architects, designers and engineers of the same name, is laying the foundations for its future growth with the acquisition of Prospect by IrisVR.

The deal, for an undisclosed sum, includes the IrisVR trademark, the Prospect and Scope products, along with other operational assets and intellectual property.

The Wild has also contracted six IrisVR Inc employees to support the transition.

IrisVR’s products are described by The Wild as the first virtual reality software on the market for architecture, engineering and construction professionals when the company launched in 2014.

Prospect was the big attraction for The Wild, because the virtual reality design review and coordination product “aligns closely” with its “vision to shape the future of immersive collaboration for teams”.

The Wild aims to combine Prospect and Scope with its own immersive collaboration platform, which added the Tours feature in December 2020 to enable users to guide others through their projects remotely, over time to deliver dynamic real-time interactivity, prototyping, and enhanced collaboration across multiple platforms.

Shane Scranton, chief executive officer and co-founder of IrisVR, indicates that the acquisition of Prospect makes sense as virtual reality enters “a new chapter with lighter, more accessible hardware”, and customers that are beginning to deploy at scale.

He continues: “By joining forces with The Wild, our products will continue to help teams catch errors earlier and make decisions faster, while also building towards a future of deeper integrations and broader hardware support within The Wild’s ecosystem.”

“We intend to dramatically expand what is possible in The Wild and joining forces with IrisVR is a huge leap forward to empower more teams to experience their work together in virtual reality.”
