The story

Magic Leap has added another hire to its senior leadership team.

Anuj Gosalia, previously a senior engineering director at Google, joins the company as chief software and cloud officer. It called the role and its focus “an essential step” in its evolution as an augmented reality for enterprise provider.

The appointment of Gosalia follows the arrival of Tracey Trewin at Magic Leap as chief product officer earlier this month and the partnership with Google Cloud, announced in January, which will see the companies develop mixed reality solutions for enterprise.

Gosalia brings more than 20 years of experience to Magic Leap. He had led software development for technology giants including Google, Facebook and Microsoft.

One of his accomplishments while at Google was to grow ARCore, the smartphone augmented reality platform, from zero to one billion installs.

Gosalia also previously led the software team at Oculus and the Windows Graphics organisation at Microsoft.

At Magic Leap, Gosalia will work closely with Paul Greco, who became chief technology officer last year after spending more than eight years leading hardware research and development, systems engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain.

Greco now has responsibility for all hardware at the company and will also lead all next generation systems.

Gosalia will also work closely with Trewin, who is leading on product and platform vision and strategy, including the product management, product research, data science and product marketing functions.

Following the appointment of Peggy Johnson as chief executive officer last, the company has also appointed Walter Delph, Ana Lang, Jose Baltazar and John Doherty to senior leadership roles.

Commenting on his appointment as chief software and cloud officer at Magic Leap, Gosala says: “I am honoured to join the leadership team at Magic Leap to be a part of redefining how enterprises engage with augmented reality technologies.”

“I’m looking forward to doing what I love most, building innovative software platforms and solutions that bring unmatched value and simplicity to its users.”
