Ecolab, a provider of water, hygiene and infection prevention solutions and services, has introduced Microsoft mixed reality technology to its life sciences offering as a means to combat cleaning and disinfection challenges.
Using the virtual visits service, life sciences clients can virtually connect to remote Ecolab scientists, engineers and cross-functional teams located anywhere in the world using Microsoft HoloLens 2 and running Dynamics 365 Remote Assist.
Remote experts can provide technical support and documentation in augmented reality to help an on-site team member wearing HoloLens 2 see solutions to deliver resolution faster and more efficiently.
Remote Ecolab experts can also review manufacturing operations and address issues by recommending and implementing site-specific cleaning programmes to help prevent common issues that lead to downtime and associated costs in productivity, labour and resources.
Ecolab says the service can also provide immersive training experiences with live step-by-step instruction from remote experts.
The company successfully tested virtual service delivery at pharmaceutical drug manufacturing facilities last year, to help optimise their cleaning and disinfection programmes, review procedure compliance with cleanroom technicians responsible for cleaning and disinfection tasks, and install and evaluate production equipment at personal care manufacturing sites.
